W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home was founded in 1907 by Willis Clifford Hiltz and was located in the former Reeves Home on Cornwallis Street in Kentville, Nova Scotia, in the Annapolis Valley.
Mr. Hiltz retired in 1972 and the W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home Company Limited.
In 1994 Cyril and Penny White became sole owners of the W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home Company Limited and in 2000 adopted the name of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The business continues to be family owned and operated by Cyril and Penny White along with their son, Greg, a third generation funeral director.
Renovations in 2002 saw an additional chapel expansion, visitation and reception room construction with modern kitchen facilities and the comforts of home. The reception area is adjacent to the chapel and provides a private area for family seating. The chapel, visitation and reception area are all located on one level with an outside entrance, thus providing wheelchair access to the entire funeral home.
Soft rose carpeting, oak finish and family antiques achieve a parlour atmosphere with a modern environment. Paintings and photographs feature local artists and interests. A newly constructed carriage house provides protection for the funeral vehicles. There's additional parking and new landscaping which includes water fountains and a brick wall and fence enclosure. There's little doubt the property has become a pleasurable improvement to the north end entrance of the business area of downtown Kentville.
The White family and the staff of the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services have a longstanding commitment to serve with
“Compassion, Courtesy and Honour”.
What about Cremation?
If it is the wish of the family or was the wish of the deceased that cremation take place, as opposed to earth burial, we will look after all necessary arrangements to accommodate that wish and provide the desired service.
Because cremation is merely an alternative to earth burial, this does not mean that the other aspects of the funeral service may not be utilized. For instance, you can still have a public or private visitation, a funeral service with the casket present and cremation occurring following the service, or a funeral service after the visitation period, with the urn present.
We can advise you with regard to your specific needs or requests and can also offer a variety of urns for the containment of the cremated
