For more than 30 years, Young Drivers of Canada has been teaching Canadians how to drive and survive. Young Drivers offers the most comprehensive driver training courses in Canada, including exclusive YD-branded in-car emergency techniques training.
Cognifit is an in-home, PC-based program exclusive to Young Drivers that literally trains your brain to more effectively react to everyday situations. It's an important part of the Young Drivers curriculum. It helps you practice the mental skills you need to be the smartest, safest driver possible and to succeed in other aspects of your life, like school and sports.
It works like this: each student takes a 30-minute assessment. The program assesses each student's cognitive strengths and weaknesses and generates a report for both the in-car instructor (so he or she can modify and customize the driver training to meet the student's needs) and for the student (so he or she can pinpoint areas of improvement and use the program at home to practice).
Students are assessed in their ability to:
- Assess time, speed, and distance
- Avoid risk
- Change plans
- Be confident
- Divide attention
- Focus
- Demonstrate hand-eye coordination
- Obey traffic regulations
- React quickly
- Use short term memory
- Scan visually
- Spot problems
