Attica Furnishings Ltd, an innovative downtown shop in Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John's, Newfoundland, features modern furniture and accessories by local and international artists and designers. From upholstered and leather sofas, to solid maple dining sets and creative lighting, Attica offers clients a unique selection of manufactured and handmade items.
Attica was created in 1995 by Christopher Joyce and Suzanne Saul. With Bachelor of Fine Art degrees from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, both Chris and Suzanne bring a contemporary, clean-lined sophistication to their decorative work. Chris, an award-winning furniture designer, creates one-of-a-kind and limited edition works out of steel and other materials.
The name 'Attica'
Attica was one of the cultural centres of Greece during the Early Iron Age. It was a time when the beautiful was part of everyday life; it was not set aside for special occasions or confined to objects of particular merit. The beautiful was not only for the major arts of architecture, painting, and sculpture, but all the minor ones as well - furniture, vases, and common household objects.
