Black Heritage Tours Inc. will take you to visit many exciting sites in the Black Community. Sites including the 'one of a kind' Black Culture Center, located in one of the oldest Black Communities in Nova Scotia. Other sites include: the location of the Maroon Hall and the tombstone commemorating the lives of the Jamaican Maroons; Black Churches and communities where connections are presently being made with descendants of the Underground railroad, Black Loyalists and Refugees. All tours are narrated by trained and informed tour guides. Our main aim is to share a rich culture and heritage with you, that has never been told. Black Heritage Tours is owned and operated by multi-generation African Black Nova Scotians.

Black Heritage Tours Inc. welcomes you to Nova Scotia, Canada to see lots of great scenery and meet many wonderful people. You probably did not know that Black people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for many years. The first documented Black to live in Nova Scotia was Mathieu DaCosta in 1605.

Black Heritage Tours was born in 1995 to address a need that was not being met adequately. The African Black History of Nova Scotia needed to be shared more widely. Matthew and Carolyn Thomas gave birth to Black Heritage Tours and spent time determining if the concept would be a viable one. Over the past two years, return visits and contacts have confirmed this fact, and as a result efforts must be made to train staff to meet the need.

Black Heritage Tours is in business to welcome tourists into the Province of Nova Scotia and to share the history, accomplishments and contributions of the African Black Nova Scotian. Black Heritage Tours will provide services and products in a hospitable manner to ensure positive experiences for tourists. BHTours is multi dimensional and is comprised of many sectors which may include arranging; accommodations; attractions to sites such as cultural museums, heritage parks, cultural exhibitions, historic sites, arrangement of special events to include special lectures and dinners. Black Heritage Tours will train and employ travel guides and individuals in other complementary roles, such as greeters, tour guide leaders, driver guides and administrative staff.

Black Heritage Tours will be pleased to arrange your visit while in Nova Scotia. Our prices are so reasonable so that no one needs to be excluded. Families will find them affordable, and so will tour groups and/or those who want to plan a learning vacation.

'Come see for yourself and allow us to share the half that has never been told.'- Carolyn G. Thomas, President
