One of the greastest side trips off the cabot trail is Meat Cove. A tiny fishing village nestled in a sheltered cove just inside of Inverness Country. It is the most Northern tip of Cape Breton Island. At the very end of a 5 mile gravel road, with spectaular views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, it's coast line and unsupassed mountain views. Our lodge is located on a mountain overlooking Meat Cove. It offters a peacefull and quiet setting for our guests with a incredible ocean view. You can sit back and relax, watch whales in the ocean below, or bald eagles fly in the clear blue sky, all from our open deck.
While there is not much happening in Meat Cove for entertainment, but for those that love nature, they can find plenty to do. You can pick from several hiking trails from a short hike to an all day hike into the backcountry, where there is abundant of wildlife. You can take a whale watching tour, go kayaking, swimming at our beach where a beauitful stream flows into the gulf. All this and much, much more can be found at our lodge! Meat Cove is located on the tip of Cape Breton Island. It is 20 miles off the Cabot Trail, taking a turn off in Cape North. It is along a 8 km dirt road.
