New Dawn Enterprises Limited, incorporated in 1976, is the oldest Community Development Corporation in Canada and is a Founding Member of the Canadian CED (Community Economic Development) Network. It is a private, volunteer directed, not-for-profit organization dedicated to community building. New Dawn seeks to identify community needs and to establish and operate ventures that speak to those needs. New Dawn employs over 175 people from the Cape Breton community and it services 600 Cape Bretoners each day through its companies and projects. The administrative offices of New Dawn are located in Sydney, Cape Breton, in the province of Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Island, the most eastern part of Nova Scotia and one of the most eastern parts of Canada, is linked to the mainland by a causeway.

New Dawn Enterprises Ltd. is the parent of many other community-oriented organizations in and around the area of Sydney. We deal with real estate, both for commercial and residential clients, private heath care, as well as training and immigration. New Dawn is always taking on new challenges and opportunities to help expand ourselves and our community.

New Dawn Holdings Ltd. is an initiative of New Dawn Enterprises Ltd with the objectives of promoting, supporting and operating job creation and economic development initiatives and providing equity funding for viable business enterprises in Cape Breton Island. NDHL is a community economic development corporation within the meaning of the Equity Tax Act (Nova Scotia) and is registered by the Minister of Finance pursuant to the Equity Tax Credit Act (Nova Scotia). NDHL has been created for the purpose of raising capital to invest in the Nova Scotia economy in order to assist businesses to create jobs and to provide a return to Security holders.
