Nu-Air Ventilation Systems

Nu-Air designs and manufactures high quality Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV's), Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV's) and Air Exchangers for residential and commercial applications. Models range in size from 90cfm (42 l/s) to 5000 cfm (2350 l/s). In addition, we produce a line of ventilation accessory products including grills, hoods, stackheads and filter boxes.

Advanced Integrated Mechanical Systems (AIMS) were added to our product offering in March 2002. AIMS systems combine space heating, hot water and continuous ventilation with heat recovery, in an energy efficient integrated system, marked under the Enerboss trademark.

Advanced Design, Efficient Performance

Healthy, fresh, filtered air, energy efficiency and intelligent design are the trademarks of the Enerboss. Enerboss is an advanced COMBO system Air Handler with integrated Heat Recovery Ventilator. When coupled with a residential boiler, water heater or central boiler (multi-unit buildings), the Enerboss provides both space heating and ventilation. With an optional evaporator coil and a compressor (split system), the Enerboss can also integrate air conditioning.

The Enerboss features a compact design with simplified duct, water and electrical connections for reduced installation costs. Air filtration is an important part of the Enerboss, with separate air filters for both circulation and ventilation air. Simple controls require only a fan coil thermostat with a fan switch and optional dehumidistat.

A General Electric ½ hp electrically commutated direct drive motor, handling circulation and ventilation, ensures low electrical consumption. The energy efficient blower provides continuous fresh air at 65 cfm (30 l/s) to the heat recovery ventilation system and circulating air at 350 cfm (165 l/s). A separate blower exhausts air from “wet rooms” (kitchen, bathroom and laundry).

The air-handler unit selected for use in each Drake Landing Solar Community (DLSC) home replaces the need for a conventional furnace. The unit is specially designed for use in low-temperature heating. It consists of a large heat exchanger surface, an integrated heat recovery ventilator (HRV), and a high efficiency, variable speed, electronically commutated motor (ECM™) to drive both the main blower and the ventilator.

To increase the temperature in a home, the homeowner uses a conventional thermostat. Raising the temperature on the thermostat opens an automatic valve that allows hot water to flow from the district heating loop through the heat exchanger in the air-handler unit. A fan blows air across the hot coil, heating the air and distributing it throughout the home in high volume, low velocity ductwork.

The heat recovery ventilator exhausts warm, moist, stale air from within the home's wet rooms to the outside, and preheats cool, fresh incoming air.

This system ensures adequate fresh air inside the home, and requires less energy to provide space heating as compared to a conventional furnace.

The performance of these units meets ENERGY STAR® requirements for HRVs. Along with this very quiet, efficient line of HRV comes a new line of attractive, easy-to-use touch controls which can be mounted in single- or multiple-gang boxes.
