Individualized Nutrition Counseling is ideal for those who want one on one nutrition education provided by a registered dietitian. Home visits are available upon request. Individualized nutrition counseling is divided into either basic nutrition assessments or comprehensive nutrition assessments depending on the reason for the visit and how in depth of an analysis is completed.

The basic nutrition assessment is about 1 hour in length and is aimed at individuals who have been diagnosed with or are interested in learning more about (not an exhaustive list):

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Weight loss basics
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or
  • Acid reflux (GERD)

The basic assessment is also appropriate for those interested in learning more about:

  • Vegetarian eating
  • Nutrition and pregnancy
  • Nutrition and athletic performance or
  • General nutrition (healthy eating, label reading, etc.)

The comprehensive assessment is about 1.5 hours in length and is aimed at individuals who are looking for a more in-depth nutrition assessment for:

  • Weight management (loss and gain) or
  • Nutrition and athletic performance

The comprehensive assessment includes recommendations for improvements to individual eating habits based on the results of a detailed 3 day nutrient analysis. The comprehensive assessment also includes analysis of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist to hip ratio (WHR) as well as an estimation of percentage body fat. If requested, individualized meals plans can be provided at an additional cost. Weight alone is not a good indicator of your health or overall fitness. Percentage body fat is a better indicator because it tells you how much of your weight is fat and how much is bone and muscle. The higher your percent body fat, the greater risk you are for developing health related concerns.
