RCMP - Halifax
Halifax District Detachment is responsible for policing several areas within Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). These areas include Cole Harbour, Tantallon and area, Lower Sackville, Prestons, Musquodoboit Harbour, Sheet Harbour, Lake Echo, Porters Lake, Fall River, Beaver Bank and the Halifax International Airport .
The site offices located in Lower Sackville, Cole Harbour and Tantallon are operational 24 hours a day and are aligned in a ‘Watch’ system. There are four Watch units, each one supervised by a Staff Sergeant Watch Commander.
Additionally, there are community offices in Cherybrook, Lake Echo, Porter's Lake, Lawrencetown, Eastern Passage, Fall River, Beaver Bank, Prospect Road and Lakeside.
Members of RCMP Halifax District Detachment offer many community policing and school programs.
Halifax District Detachment is unique in the fact that some units are integrated with Halifax Regional Police. Halifax District Detachment and Halifax Regional Police adopted a joint management strategy to maximize the use of police resources and develop shared priorities. Integration provides an enhanced level of service for all citizens of Halifax Regional Municipality .
Halifax District Detachment headquarters is located at the HRM Police Headquarters on 1975 Gottingen Street , Halifax.
