General Description
The Tantallon office of the RCMP Halifax District Detachment serves the areas of Tantallon, Timberlea, Lakeside , Beechville, Prospect Road and area, Peggy’s Cove, Hammonds Plains, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, and Sambro.

With a population of approximately 36,000 people, many of the residents of this area located to the southwest corner of Hammonds Plains, travel Hwy 103 to work in Halifax or Dartmouth.

Detachment
The Tantallon office of the Halifax District Detachment enforces Criminal Code, Liquor Control Act, Motor Vehicle Act, Federal Statutes pertaining to drug enforcement and a variety of Provincial Statutes and Municipal By-Laws. Break and enters, collisions, and criminal code cases rank as most of the workload.

There are community offices in BLT and Prospect.
