Baddeck's Victoria County Memorial opened in 1949 as 23-bed Canadian Red Cross operated facility. In 1995, a new hospital was opened.

Other Information
The Hospital serves a population of approximately 5,500. Visiting physicians in Psychiatry, Orthopedics and Internal Medicine provide patient care through the Outpatient Department. It also has a Hemodialysis Unit through the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre that is operated on an as needed basis. A variety of clinics are held at the hospital including monthly Ophthalmology clinics, monthly Foot clinics and Well Women's Clinics that are held twice a year. Victoria County Memorial also houses offices for Home Care Nova Scotia, Public Health Services, Addiction Services and Adolescent Services.
