Yurchesyn Reproductions

Mary Yurchesyn was born in Sydney NS and continues to make Cape Breton her home. She has always had a passion for drawing and painting though circumstances led her to study sciences in Halifax. While attending St. Mary's University she enjoyed the luxury of an art gallery on campus. Here she was able to study part-time in charcoal and later in oil under the instruction of Robert Diets who was the curator of the gallery at that time. He encouraged her to never lay down her brush and painting has since remained an important part of her life.

After completing her DDS degree at Dalhousie, Mary returned home to practice dentistry, but continued to develop her painting skills under the guidance of Cape Breton artist Marie Moore. She has worked in oil for more than 25 years, and after much encouragement produced her first limited edition print 'Evening Serenade' in 2001. Most of her work reflects special moments in life that evoke feelings of sentiment.

Her work is presently available in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
