Sal's Bed & Breakfast By the Sea is nestled in the rustic out-port community of Herring Cove, Nova Scotia. This quaint little fishing village is only 20 minutes from the lights and bustle of downtown Halifax but offers a total escape from hectic everyday life. You'll love the warm wood tones used throughout the house and the special feeling of light reflecting off the water right at our doorstep. Enjoy the great view of the ocean from our deck and watch ships of all kinds entering Halifax Harbour. Sharp eyed visitors will spot sea birds, seals and even whales! Relax on our spacious private wharf, enjoy a stroll around the picturesque cove, or hike along our rocky shore. A short drive will take you to shopping centres and fine restaurants, or visit one of Nova Scotia's many heritage or natural sites. Whether you enjoy gardens & parks, beaches or ski slopes, 'Canada's Ocean Playground' has it all, and you're never more than 75 miles from the sea no matter where you go! Drive yourself along our scenic highways, or catch the bus just a few minutes walk away.
Our Rooms - We offer a choice of the Eagle's Nest Suite with your own private entrance, ensuite four piece bathroom with extra storage space, kitchenette, cable television & VCR; or the cozy Blue Whale room with it's own private four piece bath, comfy furniture and ceiling fan. Our rates are affordable and we don't charge tax! Guests can enjoy their full complimentary breakfast in our sunny dining room, on the deck in the fresh sea breeze, or in the privacy of your own room!
There is natural beauty to enjoy year round; cruise ships in summer, seals fishing among the ice in winter, the comings and goings of the Pilot Boat in all seasons and weathers. Halifax has one of the finest harbours in the world and all ships, from container to cruise, stop at Herring Cove to await the harbour pilot's boat, which docks right next door!
