At the Sign of the Whale Nova Scotia Crafts and Art Gallery has been operating since 1981 and from its beginning it has been an all-Nova Scotia craft store and art gallery.
We carry the work of over 150 Nova Scotia craftspeople and artists who produce pewter (Seagull, Amos, Basic Spirit, Gillis), wrought iron, glass, hooking (Cheticamp), weaving, hand knit sweaters, jackets, jewellery, driftwood sculpture, turned wooden bowls and lamp bases, stone lamp bases, pressed flowered & stenciled lamp shades, carved birds, wind chimes, candles, pottery and Nova Scotia books. Morris Pottery is made on the premises by owners Michael and Frances Morris. We also carry original works of art by the folowing artists:

Our Summer hours are
Monday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday noon - 5 p.m.
During the rest of the year we are open
Monday - Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

We are located in a Provincial Heritage Property (built by Jacob Tedford c. 1795) three miles outside Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on Route 1. We are the recipient of the TIANS (Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia) Tourism Services Award and are recommended by Frommers and Fodors travel guides. We are pleased to offer the highest quality craft and art that Nova Scotia has to offer. Michael Morris is an appraiser of Modern Canadian Paintings (1900 to present). He is a member of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers. At the Sign of the Whale is a member of Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council, Nova Scotia Potters Guild, Visual Arts Nova Scotia, Yarmouth Crafts Guild, the Yarmouth Tourist Association, and the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce.
