The mission of the Bridgewater Police Department is to promote a safe community by providing professional and efficient police service.

As we begin 2007 our Police Department is looking forward to many exciting, progressive events. The biggest advancement we are anticipating is moving into our new police facilities at the corner of Dufferin Street and Exhibition Drive. Visitors to our web site can watch the progress as we add new pictures weekly. The grand opening is anticipated to be held in June 2007.

We have also embarked on a new cadet selection process in an attempt to recruit and retain officers. For the first time in our history, we will select three recruits to attend basic recruit training at the new Halifax Regional Police training facility in Dartmouth NS commencing in February 2007 with graduation in October 2007. These three new cadets will then be offered full time employment with our service immediately after graduation.

The Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioners recently adopted a three year Strategic Plan which can be viewed on the website and which clearly indicates our direction and emphasis for the next three years.

Recent announcements by the Minister of Justice indicate that provincial funding will be provided to augment and enhance operational policing throughout the Province. This new funding should result in new opportunities in this area which will be announced early in the spring of 2007.

2007 will see many changes and significant growth in our Police Service which will help us in providing a better level of service to our community.
