Once a week, the asphalt slab that is the parking lot at the Lunenburg Daycare Centre is transformed into a vibrant cinema, like the travelling theatres of old. It is amazing to watch the blank slate change from nothing at 6:30a.m. to bustling activity by 7:30. Vendors put up their tents like seasoned pros; others prepare their vegetables, arrange their plants and flowers, carefully lay out fresh-baked breads, pies, cookies. Still others prepare food samples for people to try, write prices on weathered chalk boards, and rearrange goods so they look most appealing.
Every market is unique; the vendors come from separate worlds, detached lives. But once a week they combine as characters in an ever-changing 'improv' show - a living theatre that plays variations on the same theme each time. Our Farmers' Market is a gathering place. It is common to see people lingering to chat with vendors and friends, and spirits are high. We have a wide range of vendors, and products. All local, all fabulous: plants, vegetables, fruits, baked goods, floral arrangements, smoked and fresh meats, organic produce, hemp oil products, hand sewn and knitted items, honey, preserves and more!
Come see us, rain or shine, every Thursday morning, mid-May to mid-October.
