Queens Detachment is located just outside the town of Liverpool on Nova Scotia's scenic South Shore. A picturesque haven for tourists, Queens County boasts numerous white sand beaches and a variety of annual festivals and amusements. Every second year talented thespians from around the world gather for Liverpool's International Theatre Festival at the historic Astor Theatre. Liverpool is also the 'Home of the Privateers' and its July 1st weekend celebrations include dances, a mock jail, an actual 'privateer' wedding with period costumes, and a re-enactment with the King’s Orange Rangers. The Brooklyn Marina puts on a great show with the Parade of Sail on opening night followed by a big fireworks display.

Liverpool has a long history with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Since 1932, the RCMP has patrolled the county of Queens, providing citizens with safe homes and a safe community. Today the Queens Detachment is comprised of 14 regular members, 3 auxiliary constables and 2 support staff.

Mandate
Queens Detachment covers an area of 2,759 square kilometers and serves more than 11,700 citizens. The Detachment responds to approximately 3000 complaints a year dealing with the Criminal Code, Motor Vehicle Act, Liquor Control Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Provincial Statutes and Municipal By-Laws. Because of Queens County's large size, a Residential Policing position was established in 1986 to patrol the North Queens area. Members also patrol the coastline of Queens County with the Coastal Watch Program and Cottage Country with the assistance of Citizens On Patrol, a dedicated volunteer program.
