While researching career options, owner Jay Gilmore, found that many smaller businesses and organizations have no website or the website they do have is old, unfriendly to users, or just plain cumbersome—small business can do better.

Jay founded SmashingRed™ Web & Marketing to help home-based, micro and small businesses design and develop websites that meet the mutual needs of both business owner and website user.

Websites that are easy to use, fast to download, and reflect the uniqueness and professionalism of the business, lead to an increase in profits, subscriptions or donations, and ultimately help in growing the organization.

SmashingRed Web & Marketing makes its home in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada. Bridgewater is a small town about 45 minutes from Halifax. It is the largest business centre on Nova Scotia's South Shore and one of the fastest growing communities in the province.

From modest beginnings, developing personal websites, to developing small commercial websites for friends, Jay has honed his skills and joined the new, standards-based, website development movement, building sites that work better, are more accessible to more visitors, and produce positive financial results for the owner.

Jay has worked for and with small business for over a decade. During that time, he has seen great successes—and even greater failures.
