Snyder's Shipyard Limited is located on the beautiful east side of the LaHave River at Dayspring, 12 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean. At our location, we have a dock with a depth of 20 feet. Boats of all sizes and types have been built at our Dayspring location since the mid 1800's.
One of the most notable tasks that the Shipyard has undertaken during his tenure has been major repair work to the Bluenose II. The yard did an extensive refit on the famous schooner in the winter of 1995, and also replaced its broken bowsprit (in a single week!) in the summer of 1996.
We have the facilities to do repairs and build boats of 25 ft. to 110 ft., at Dayspring. We also have the facilities for welding stainless, aluminum, steel and also to do mechanical and hydraulic work. We can also do major and minor repairs to wharfs. Currently we are working on building a Lobster vessel encased inside of a fiber glass hull.
We also have access to the Marine Railway to do repairs on larger boats. Snyder's is currently involved in the Avon Spirit Co-Operative Limited, a community economic development fund for promotion of the traditional wooden shipbuilding at Newport Landing.
Snyder's Shipyard Limited is currently involved in the building of vessels that are encased inside of a fiber glass hull. Vessels are constructed of traditional wood ribs, covered with a pre-made fiber glass hull casing.
