Deverness Stables is a small, private stables incorporated in 2006. After being raised with horses and several years of having our own private facility, we felt it was time to expand and open our doors for boarders and lessons.
In 2006, we added a twelve stall barn and large heated tack and observation area to the existing indoor arena and original barn.
We now have over 20 stalls with several boarders as well as our lessons horses and our own horses which we ride and drive regularly.
The new barn contains 12 stalls, all with Nelson automatic waterers. The stalls are 12X10 ft. The aisle is 12 feet wide and heated concrete. All stalls have large windows with grills so each horse has an outdoor view. Ten foot high white finished ceilings completed the bright and airy space.
The new tack room and meeting area is 40X60 feet, with radiant heat and lots of room for boarders tack boxes. Built in tack boxes are also available for a small fee.
One arena is 60X120ft post and beam constructioin with steel exterior. Metal halide lamps provide extremely bright riding conditions in any weather.
Boarding
Boarders are encouraged to use both the indoor arena and the large outdoor arena anytime that lessons aren't occurring. Boarding includes daily individual or group turn-out, hay at least three times per day and stalls cleaned daily.
Lessons
Elaine is NSEF Certified Western Coach I. Lessons are given on a regular scheduled basis. Both individual and group lessons are available. A special effort is made to have adults and children ride in different groups unless a particular request is made by the student.
Breeding
Our herd of registered Canadian Horses includes both the Grand Champion Futurity mare at the 2006 Atlantic Canadian Horse Show and the best broodmare and foal at the 2005 Canadian Horse Show.
Have Fun
Riding should be a fun and rewarding experience. It is a great way to relieve the pressures of the day and to clear your head. At Deverness Stables, we encourage you to relax and enjoy the experience. There is an emphasis on safety. All Juniors (under 18 years) are required to wear helmets when working around their horses. This includes bring the horse in from the paddock, grooming, tacking up and riding. Everyone is encouraged to wear helmets. Proper footwear is required and gloves are recommended.
Hacking Opportunities
Deverness has its' own area for trail riding or hacking out. Access is also easily available to many surrounding trails and woods roads giving an opportunity to ride for an hour or a day.
At Fees You Can Afford
Every effort is made to keep fees reasonable. We must take into account the price of feed, utilities, taxes and of course, the employment of our staff who are there to keep the facility clean and to help you out.
